When I was young, I was fooled by everyone
And I thought this world was a magical place
But when I grew up, I could see there was no sun
And I could see this world was a winter of disgrace
When I was young, I did trust in everyone
And I thought that grownups knew what to do
But when I grew up, I could see the things they done
And I could see the truth, and see it through and through
I could see that man creates the problems on this earth
I could see that man does not appreciate its worth
I could see the problems caused by man's religion
With all its silly manmade rules
Too much stuck-up pomp and superstition
Too many sanctimonious fools
I could see we need to change the way we look at things, and try
Freedom of choice and commonsense
To learn to see each other eye to eye
And not to cause or take offence
When I was young, I could hear the angels sing
And I would wish for sunshine and a better way
When I was young, I would hope for everything
And I believed in God and God would have his say
When I was young, I believed the man would come
And I believed his justice would put things right
But now I know, we need faith in everyone
For if the world will change, we must all see the light
And if we don’t we’ll say
goodbye
And if we don’t we all shall cry
And if we don’t many will die
And if we don’t we’ll wonder why
It’s all for one and one for all
We stand together or we fall
We have to stand up and be tall
We have to rise above it all
