Proposed anytime waiting restrictions for Plantation Road & Slade Green Road

Letter to residents accompanying the POP survey forms asking for residents' views on the proposed scheme.

Dear Resident,

The Council have proposed to introduce anytime parking restrictions by painting double yellow lines at the top of Plantation Road running into Slade Green Road, to prohibit vehicles parking near the junction and so help aid visibility for residents when trying to exit Plantation Road. It can be a little difficult at times when trying to edge out, especially when any of the vans are parked in Slade Green Road on or near the corner. However, on the reverse, it is also true to say that at times we can be very short of parking spaces and yellow lines, as proposed by the Council, will inevitably deprive residents and visitors alike of a number of parking spaces, making life more difficult for some. It will also make life more difficult for some residents with regard to loading and unloading, meaning they cannot park outside their own houses.

As we have managed for many years without yellow lines, we are interested in looking at whether we feel we actually need more parking restrictions and also whether there are any other viable options, such as sighting a convex mirror on the lamppost opposite the exit of Plantation Road, which would give additional visibility without compromising on parking and loading facilities. This option has been suggested to local Councillor, Stef Borella, and also to Bexley Council's traffic department, but I would be very grateful for some feedback from residents as to whether we feel anything needs to be done, and if so, whether this compromise of a solution would be agreeable to the majority of us.

The results from the POP survey forms processed so far regarding the anytime waiting restrictions.
