MAN'S IMAGINATIONS

Never mind about all the things people tell you in the name of God
The over complications, man’s imaginations
Our prejudice, and bigotry, our ignorance and embroidery
When you look around, it is such a mess
Religion is so out of tune, with so many different opinions
But the only one that matters is the truth

So how can we know when all religion has a different view?
If there’s only one God, then just what is true?
It seems that different men have made up their own rules
In religion we know men have behaved like fools
With different interpretations, and over exaggerations
And it cannot all be the true word

So what would God have to say?
About our religions that have lost their way
He’d say it would be good if we could realise
That preaching different things is not very wise
So we should get in tune and move with the beat
And let’s all start singing from the same hymn sheet
There’s no need to complicate, there’s no need to separate
Let’s try and get things straight

So this is what we can do
Adopt a new and simple point of view
That involves everyone, having lots of fun
And focus on the things that we know are true
Lose the solemn face and all the straight lace
This is something for all the human race
Doesn’t matter who you are, you don’t have to be a star
You can find it in your heart

So let’s use our common sense
And lose the dividing fence
Care and share, and try to be fair
Learn to appreciate, and love not hate
Have respect for life, don’t add to the strife
Don’t impose your will, or help to spread the ill
Treat one another, as each man is your brother
And love the joy it brings
