FINGERS IN PIE

Like little kids in the sweetie jar, you can’t help helping yourselves
Dipping little fingers into every little pie, as prices go sky high
Stoking your inflated fortunes, while others go without
You take yourselves lots of money, cos that’s all you care about

And some would say you’re selfish, and some would say you’re mean
And some would say that’s it’s immoral, and some would say obscene
You don’t care about the people, or what you put them through
Just help yourself to another piece of pie, and tighten up the screw

Fingers in pie, you try and justify
You sell the people a lie, as you self-gratify
You abuse your position, when you are there to lead
And you’re causing a problem, a problem with your greed, with your greed

We know this world has plenty, cos God made sure of that
No one has to go without what they need, that is a fact
But some in this world are so greedy, they don’t want to play fair
They spoil it for the ordinary people, cos they don’t want to share

But how much does a person need, before it becomes greed
If you take and take and take so much, you take what others need
There’s no excuse for your gluttony, when others are so poor
Children going hungry, as you take more and more and more

Fingers in pie, you (cannot) try and justify
You sell the people a lie, as you self-gratify
You abuse your position, when you are there to lead
Don’t you see the problem, the problem is your greed, is your greed
