Mr Cameron - No Answer!

Mr Cameron, enjoying a drug of his choice

Know Your Business: Ignorance and error cause misery and cost money. The higher up you are, the worse the outcome can be. If you are going to put yourself forward to run a country, you should make it your business to know what you're on about. That is have a good understanding and be morally sound. If you think dictatorship is the answer, you shouldn't be doing the job. Unfortunately, dictatorship, bullying and oppression is currently the norm on this planet with dictators and oppressors in positions of power, all over the globe. That will eventually change as we get a better understanding.

Achieving Change: Current political systems are based on our animal heritage. Left over from the law of the jungle and the alpha male. Archaic and grossly inadequate. Despite what our politicians like us to believe, even here in the U.K., we patently do not live in a democracy and we patently do not have freewill. The trouble with living in a dictatorship is that one man (or woman) can screw it up for everybody without giving any consideration to anyone else. Especially if they do not know what they are doing or do not care. It should never be the case that one person can force undesirable change or prevent positive change when needed. However, all too often, it is!

Preventing Change: Many people who know the facts, including top policeman, drug charity workers, a few politicians, and people with personal experience, know that the existing regime used to control drugs is not fair and does not work. It is fatally flawed. Over the years, we have seen many calls to change the way we deal with controlled substances, some from very high profile people. Even people with less credentials are now beginning to realise that previous ways have not worked. However, our current prime minister, Mr Cameron, in response to the recent calls says, "There will be no change!" Is Mr Cameron just another arrogant and ignorant politician who thinks he knows better than all the experts, charity workers and those with personal experience alike? Yes, it appears he is! Well, he is a politician, and what a mess THEY generally make!

Acceptable: The Government's lack of understanding regarding this issue costs the taxpayer multiple billions of pounds every year in wasted resources. Drags thousands of innocent victims into the equation every year through drug related crime. Causes psychological problems because people can only get high-potency skunk. Causes death and other problems for young people who try to stay within the law by using the awful so-called legal highs. Causes death from the lack of drug quality control and consistency. Causes people to be drawn into the miserable world of prostitution and crime to try and appease their illness. Causes heartache for friends and family members affected by such tragedies. Causes bad feeling and resentment when consenting adults get persecuted by the law for things no worse than alcohol or tobacco. Creates a black market and facilitates funding for organised crime and terrorist activity. Causes the death of young people through drug related gang rivalry and violence. Causes confusion through lack of clarity, lack of education and lack of distinction. Deprives people of their God-given rights. But don't worry Mr Cameron, you're not the only one that thinks all of this is acceptable.

The Big IF! One thing Mr Cameron should understand is money! IF we did the right thing by people, we could save ourselves the ten billion pounds a year or so, that we currently waste on trying to chase our tail. That is a lot of money, and it achieves nothing positive. IF we were to properly manage the situation and make use of it, it is not only the ten billion pounds wasted on futile behaviour we could save, we could add another ten billion pounds or so, maybe significantly more in profit from the sale of certain drugs. That is a net gain of twenty billion pounds plus a year. No one is going to sneeze at that!

The Right Thing! Dealing with this issue would solve many problems in the world and have very significant financial benefits. The global illegal drugs' industry is estimated to earn 300 billion dollars a year. Yes, there is a demand. No, that is not going to change! Getting it right has massive positive implications for the whole planet. All of this on offer, if we can just 'understand' and do the right thing!
